The Center for Global and International Studies (CGIS) offers international expertise, education, and global perspectives on the world through undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Global & International Studies, as well as K-16 educational outreach to schools and community and campus activities covering topics of transnational scope. Their goal is to prepare University of Kansas students for the global economy and internationally-focused careers in Kansas, the United States and abroad.

The Center also gives support to developing programs in regions not covered by other Area Studies units on campus such as South Asia and the Middle East. Additionally CGIS is currently home to the Programs in European Studies and Jewish Studies, providing administrative support and other resources as these units grow and expand.
